About Yerraguntla Nagara Panchayat

Yerraguntla Nagara Panchayat is a small ULB in the YSR kadapa District of Andhra Pradesh. It is spread over an area of  5.32  sq.kms. with a population of 32,574 (2011 Census). It is known for/ famous for its Kadapa Stones and cement production.
 It is located  470  Kms from Capital city and 35 Kms  from District Headquarters.It was established as Yerraguntla Nagara Panchayat in the year 2012.There are  04 zones and  20  election wards in this Municipality.
 Yerraguntla is located at 14.6333°N 78.5333°E.It has an average elevation of 152 meters (501 feet).
Climate and Rainfall:
 Yerraguntla  Town, in general, has a tropical climate, winter last from November to February, while summer last from March to June. The annual rainfall is 80  mm, most of it received during the months of June – September .
 The Population of the town which was  26752   in 2001 increased to  32574  in 2011 with an increase of 82  % in the last decade. The sex ratio is 976 females per 1000 males. The literacy rate is 70%, 75 %  of the male population and 55% of the female population are literate.
 The livelihood of majority of the people is agriculture and daily wage earning.  The main industries in the town are polishing stones and one cement plant named India Cement Ltd.
Environmental issues:
 Proposal is made to establish vermi compost yard at Peddanapadu village which is 04 kilometers from Yerraguntla Nagara Panchayat to reduce solid waste through MSWM under  Swatch Bharath Mission
Urban Poor:
 Yerraguntla Nagara Panchayat populatin is 32574 as per 2011 census.  The slum population is 13850 works out to 42% of total population.In order to improve the living conditions of the slum dwellers the Nagara Panchayat is providing infrastructure facilities like roads, drains, water supply and street lighting.
History & Culture:
 Yerraguntla is also famous for stones, which are used for house flooring and construction of houses. Yerraguntla is driven by mining of these stones and transportation of these stones. Yerraguntla has good number of stone polish industries, and major cement factory named India Cements Limited.
